VSS Wire ?

Has anyone fitted a sat nav radio to their 964 and if so where can I find the speed signal wire ? According to the published list of vss wire location the one for a 964 is here !Porsche 911 964 1991 1993 On the control panel on the black 8 pin connector. Pin 4. Colour Green.
Sorry if this sounds a little stupid but where is or what is the control panel ? Is it the fuse/relay distribution box under the bonnet, the ECU under the seat or something else ?
Thanks

I may be completely wrong but my audio technican, I think, took it off the connection at the back of the speedo - I say this because he messed it up and, while the new sat nav worked great, the speedo was completely dead! He cursed loudly when I drove straight back and told him because it's so tough to get the instruments out. He had failed to connect the speedo back up[8|]

Looking at the wiring diagram, the speedometer has 5 connections with the highest pin number of 7 so it's likely it could be an 8 pin plug. Pin 4 is definitely green and is almost certainly the speed sensor, so I think Mark is spot on.

Dave

Thanks People, I'll retire to the proverbial shed for a while and give it a go. If I remember from my last car getting a wire the nine or ten inches from the speedo to the radio aint easy because of the firewall. I hope im wrong. will report back when the VDO unit is connected and working OK.

OK, all is working. Its the green wire on the four pin connector on the speedo and as I thought Its a bas......... to get a single little wire through the firewall. Had to go and get a loan of a flexible extension for my drill .Next job is to get the Carrera 3.2 spoiler painted and fitted.
