I need some help.

The car is fitted with VTS and I am told it has been activated. I don't want to post the precise issue I am having in public as it will give away how the system works and you never know who is watching.

If anyone has knowledge of the system and how it should operate please could you drop me an email.

I have PVTS too ... however the thing all seems to be secret :D

I carry my "widget"... I dont get called from the cobra centre when I am out and about .. So I assume its working .. I have a certificate from an approved installer .. I have a invoice showing I paid a subscription which is current ... this satisfies my insurance company .. but to be 100% honest .. I dont know if its "on".. I have to admit I have considered "stealing" my own car to prove it works .... .. LOL

any way if I can help email me..best G

Could be worse...
I get a call from Tracker every few months[:'(] false activation, but at least I know it works..... (working on the glass half full theory)

Hi Catherine

My wife's Boxster has the VTS fitted. Do you have the VTS manual? We were not given one and had to ask for it. Be aware that the key 'fobs' can be turned off - you should have a feint flashing red LED if it is on. Basically press and hold the thing that looks like a button for about 8-10 secs.

My wife had a text from the VTS centre to say it had been activated, which was a few days after collecting the car.

Don't know what your specific problem is but hope this helps.

Ok well as people have posted on here about fobs I will post here. Basically my partner went out to pull the car back onto the driveway last night by about 1 metre. He didn't take the fob with him which was in the house (Aboout 4 metres). Firstly I was suprised the car started so I called Cobra. The told me yes the car should start but that any movement should have activated the tracker (which it didn't).

Is this correct.

The VTS does not immobilise the car - it's just a tracker.

A movement of circa 1m will be below the fidelity of the tracking system. The manual doesn't quote a movement tolerance but GPS is normally only accurate to within a 'few' metres.

Ok an update. We did a test with Cobra and the alert didn't go off. My partner drove the car for about 5 minutes, getting approx 1.5 miles from the house and then it alerted the tracking centre. This is not what it should be doing and it will be going back in for them to look at it.

How do you know that it alerted the tracking centre 5 mins/1.5 miles after the car left your house? As soon as the car becomes distant from the transponder that you retain, the tracking centre will be made aware and then inform you. That action takes a finite period of time; I suggest that being informed within 5 min is 'par for the course', and also allows for any 'error' to be identified by the driver and corrected - for example turning around and returning to collect the transponder! I suggest that the centre was aware of the 'potential' problem long before it informed you. Would you really want to be telephoned every time you drove your car from the garage to your driveway to wash it - or a similar benign short journey?

Catherine ... what was Cobras attitude to testing ??? To be honest I dont know if my system works and am considering the "steal my own car test "
