VULCAN BOMBER THE LAST OF A TYPE! VISIT

21st Oct at Robin Hood Airport Directions Hanger (which was the old Finningley air base). Vulcan web site www.vulcantothesky.org

R4 & one of the Porsche club members; Ian Gibson has sorted a special visit to see this very historical aircraft. This is a great opportunity to see Great Britain's aviation heritage at close quarters. All the proceeds from our visit will go to help keep this fine aircraft in the sky.

The history of the active aircraft Number XH558: it was the first B type Vulcan & in its history it flew to the Falklands during that conflict 30 years ago. It is the only flying Vulcan left from 187 built. The aircraft is funded by charitable donations & does not receive monies from Gov / MOD.

Ian has also arranged to have a finger buffet at the Ramada Encore Hotel, which is on the airport site.

If participants wish for further aviation history then just a couple of miles from the airport is the Doncaster Air Museum with a large selection of assorted craft including helicopters. Look on web site for more details <aeroventure.org.uk> & location.

The price for this Vulcan visit & buffet is £16 per head. Under twelve's are half price.
Depending on numbers the format for the day will be sorted nearer the time.
All bookings need to be arranged & paid in advance. Maximum number for this event is ninety.

Payments can be made by transfer / debit credit card or cheque posted "" Vulcan Vans.

When arriving on site please make your way to the Ramada Encore Hotel for teas / coffees. If you wish to stay over the wkd & see the historical town of Bawtry plus the Doncaster Air Museum. The Hotel has offered a very special room rate (Ref Vulcan visit Porsche Club GB)

Time of arrival from 10.00 at the hotel & the first group tour 11.30, with lunch to follow, further tours after, pending on numbers.

Hi Ian Just got back, many thanks for organising this. Great to be able to get up so close to a great piece of British engineering Everyone in my little troup thoroughly enjoyed it and commented on how well it was run and what a great experience it was
 
For all the Fifty people who attended the Vulcan bomber visit it was a pleasure to help Ian to arrange this day & nice to meet members from other regions R21 / R7 / R8 / R24 / plus a few from R4. It was a fantastic visit followed by a super Buffet at the Ramada Hotel. A full report will appear in the P Post in due course. Thank you Ian - on behalf of all supporting members. Richard RO R4
 
I would just like to say a very big thankyou to Ian and his team, for what was a memorable day. to get up close to such an iconic aircraft was amazing, both myself and my guest, who incidently has his pilots liecence at a tender age of 20 thoughly enjoyed the day, and meal was good to,
 
Glad you all seemed to enjoy it thanks to r4 RO and wife Pam and all who helped on the day If any other region/register wants me to put a trip to the Vulcan I now have the template and would be happy to put it together regards Ian
 
HI IAN, would it be possible to get two copies of the photo taken of the groupe, taken under the vulcan,any cost would be met, thanks dave worth
