Want to buy

Hello and firstly, let me introduce myself.
My name is David and I live in Spain. This is my first post, so just feeling my way around. I want to buy a 911sc or Carrera, and I would like some information as to what to look for when viewing cars. Could someone point me in the direction of where to look on this site, or better, reply to this post?
Ideally I would like to buy a bit of a shed to rebuild as long as the rust has not terminally damaged the body and structure. I know the door shuts are very prone to rusting through and that these are very repairable.
I am no stranger to car builds and rebuilds. I have built from the chassis up a Dax Tojeiro Cobra replica, and I am just completing the 'freshen up' of my Golf MKII G60. Plus I am an aircraft engineer by trade, so I am used to the air cooled concept and mechanical work does not scare me. (Welding though, I would need to practice.)
I want to know the weak points of the car and engine/gearbox so that I can direct my attentions to these areas of any cars I view.
Unlike my Golf, which I used to keep my hand in, I will be buying to keep. The Cobra was not recognised by the Spanish authorities, so I had to sell her.
Thanks in advance.

Great. Thats what I was looking for. My quest for a 911 may be some time as the current project has got to be sold first. But if the 'bargain of the century' comes along...

Are there any problems with mating up a G50 gearbox to an older 3.0 unit, ie adaptor plates or is it a bolt in item? I understand one operates a cable clutch and the other hydraulic...
