My next door neighbour has finally decided to join the Porsche fold.

He is looking for a 993 Coupe, manual.
Does not want tiptronic.
Does not want targa.
Does not want cabriolet.
Does not want car with star ship mileage.

Does anyone know of a good 993 for sale. Max £40k
South East UK.
Obviously we suggest he looks for low a mileage car with a good history. But what are the specific things he should be aware of when buying a 993?

Gary,

40k sounds like a big enough budget for a C2 or C4, and i reckon your neighbour can find some C2S and C4S within that price too.... i would say that low-to-mid 30s is where you can find a great car...

There are not any specific 993 problems that i am aware of, i think one just has to get the necessary checks done by a " specialist" , and there are plenty of specialists on the net who stock 993s ...

if you look at early postings on this register, and on the 993 reg on the club site, there is a warning about ' 94/' 95/' 96 993s... this is an " enhancement programme" (code W310 i think) concerning replacing the engine wire loom... simply call any OPC with the chassis number, and they can confirm if that particular 993 needs to come in for work... this is all warranty work, carried out by Porsche AG, free of charge!!.

Good luck!...and remember to tell your neighbour to join the Club and Register, if and when they acquire

Gary,

I may upgrade to a 993 C2S which would mean parting with my current loved 993 Coupe. The details are outlined below. Not cheap - but a very special car.

Model: 993 Carrera C2 Coupe (6 speed manual)
Year: 1995
Mileage: 33k
History: Full Porsche main dealer history (serviced every year even when annual mileage was very low). Recently serviced.
Colour: Aventura Green (dark metallic grey/green) with light grey (unmarked) leather interior.
Owners: 2 prior to me
MOT: 9 months
Condition: Truly immaculate inside and out. Dry weather use only (other than in the occasional summer shower). This is one of 4 cars in a house with two drivers (crazy I know!). Recently went through an 87 point check by local Porsche dealer (Lancaster) and they could find nothing whatsoever that needed attention.
Other: air conditioning, electric sun roof, electric mirrors, Sony CD player, clear front indicators
Price: £32,950
Viewing: Colchester - 55 miles north east of London.

The car also has a a private plate (with Porsche connections) which is not included in the price.

Let me know if you are interested.

Regards

Robert

PS Wiring loom replaced in May 2003 at Porsche expense
