I am looking for a Porsche Child seat to fit in the rear of my 2000MY 996 (no luck on 'Wanted' Forum)

I think it is called a Porsche Junior. Child ages 9 months - 7 or 12 years.

My car does not have ISOFIX.

Thanks for the advice. I'm now going to buy the mamas & papas seat.

Its so good being able to be a parent and still keep the Porsche!

Thanks for the M&P suggestion.

With our first due in October, I was really believing that my 996 would have to go but the info given on your linked post was superb. We've already decided to get a Quinny Buzz so the only thing left to check is whether the Zapp also fits in a C4 luggage compartment !

Hi there,

I have a C4S and the Quinny Zapp fits in fine. It is a snug fit, almost like it was designed especially for the 911.

With regard to removing the rear seat back, is that an easy job? If so where do you start?

Cheers

Hilbert

Just some info for the next stage of parenthood. I bought my 1998 911 in Oct last year when my daughter was 27 months old. We were about to buy the expensive Porsche booster seat. However, I didn't feel that it fitted that well (probably because we had isofix in the previous car). So I bought a polystyrene booster seat from Argos, which when trimmed, fits perfectly. My daughter initially disliked the seat because she had been used to sitting in a baby seat. However, after a few journeys she worked out how to get comfortable and now loves going in the car.

I thought a child had to be in a proper child seat until their weight reaches 15kg (generally about 4 years old)

From the government site

Child under 3 years of age:- Correct child restraint must be used

Child 3-11 years and under 150cms in height (from Sep 06 this becomes "Child 3 years to 135cms in height (and under 12 years)") :- Correct child restraint must be used. Must use an adult belt if correct child restraint is unavailable.

The important phrase here is "Correct child restraint" these are defined as
  • child seats - forward facing and for children 9 kgs to 18 kgs (approx 9 months to 4 years);
  • booster seats - for children from 15 kgs and up (from approx 4 years);
  • booster cushions - for children from 22 kgs and up (from approx 6 years).
I read the rules as :- a child under 3 must be in something like the Pro-Tec and really unless they are exceptionally large for their age, in it until they are about 4 years old.
