WANTED - REAR CALIPERS

I need a pair of std rear calipers for a ' 65-' 68 non-S 911 & I' m fairly sure that the same calipers were used on the 912 (& 356C).

Anyone got any spares ? I am looking for core units suitable for rebuilding.

Ideally, if reconditioned units were readily available I would go for these as time is short but I have tried all the obvious places - Roger Bray, Bert Gear, KK, Flat 6, Russell Ward, Gantspeed, Classicar Automotive, etc - anybody know another source?

Just to clarify, the calipers use 35mm pistons & the centres of the mounting holes are 56 mm apart.

Try Peter Andrews at Transend

That is where I bought spare calipers for my car.

I have a sneeky feeling though that there may be two types of rear caliper preceeding the S caliper - I vaguely recall having to check which type I had on my car.

I think that I paid £40 for a used rear caliper (which I still haven' t used) - which didn' t seem too prohibitive.

By the way, let us know how you get on with reconditioning the calipers.

Ian, PA wants £85 ea for core units for rebuilding (which will need new pistons & seals) - I' m sure that someone else must have some cheaper.

Gavin, have already tried Lenz-Trend, Mittelmotor, Feboe & Erpa - no luck.

I know that I could get s/h units in the States but because of their weight, shipping would be prohibitive.

Anybody know of a 912 being broken for spares in the UK - privately or commercially ?

Andy

Crumbs! I certainly wouldn' t have paid that!

Not really sure who would be able to help - there must be a number of 912s around that are never destined to be rebuilt.

Maybe there is a business opportunity here for someone.....
