Wanting a 928...

Well finally decided to take the plunge into 928 ownership after a long time admiring them. Already own an old Commer camper so thought id go to the other extreme :). Just got the essential buyers guide through so busy reading that and went to Anglia car auctions at the weekend to look at 3 there, ended up bottling a bid in the end though. Tbh was very tempted by a silver S2 (after an original 928 or S2) but looked like it had been hit on the back sometime,
shut lines were out on the boot.

Hopefully will get one soon, if anyone knows of any gooduns please let me know

Cheers

Jim

hi Jim,
Just out of curiosity was there much interest in the 928's and did they sell ?

Cheers Jon

They did...two above estimate and one was no reserve, results here:

Blue one had a lot of alloy corrosion, silver very solid, boot release not working as usual and sunroof stuck but rest seemed good on it but for the boot not being aligned and the rear plastic being popped out at one end.

Cheers Jim

Just like to keep an eye on the market prices are all over the place at the moment

hi jimberlake

in my experience so far, I find that a good one (expensive as you put it) will have everything checked and in working order (should). The cheaper ones like the ones sold in auction will most def. have issues you will need to deal with. when buying one at this price expect to fork out an extra £2-4K on work to be done. its not cheap to have these cars fixed as the parts are very expensive. I did check out a few before i bought mine and in general the cars at the £3k-4K always had issues. Is it worth spending £10K plus on one of these cars?????????? YES i think so.[:D] unless you have the time to work on her yourself then by all means find it as cheap as possible. also bear in mind 12mpg[:(] its not cheap to run around in this baby. try for the s4 or gt versions though I think the values of these will be much stronger in years to come.

oww and yes they do sell at the higher price

Those ones are very cheap and would expect issues at that price.
That's said whichever one you get expect to pay for it massively ! It roughly costs me twice as much to run than the 944.

Jim

I would always buy the best you can afford a really nice S or S2 rather than a so so S4, fixer uppers can be a lot more costly in the long run history is a must. reasonably priced GT's, SE Manuals and GTS don't exist wish they did.

I have S's S2 and S4 personally love the 16valve 4.7 for fun (especially in manual form) and the 32 valve S4 auto for long journeys but that's just me.
