Waranties

I wonder if anyone knows the accepted legal position on this one?

When you purchase a used car from a dealer, i am lead to believe that they have to offer a 3 month warranty by law. Does this cover parts and labour, or just labour. Also does it have exclusions to the type of work needed?

Useful to have this info before i go and pick up my steed which has needed a new indicator stalk 2 months after purchase as indicators stopped working.

cheers

Used car dealer warranties usually cover major mechanical issues but not anything reesulting from normal wear and tear. It could be argued that after an assumed 23 years on your car, the indicator stalk breaking might be normal wear and tear.

Did you get a warranty document - it should state what is covered.

Office of Fair trading website is here if it's of any use:

Same advice from me too, I doubt the indicator stalk is covered. It's normal for these stalks to fail on 911s after a fair tens of thousands of miles.

Every sympathy but it is part and parcel of buying a car of this age that some minor things may need improving or may be wearing out. 2 months down the road you are only covered for major mechanical failures.

Have you had a quote for getting it fixed or for the parts?

Best of luck with it
