Warm up regulator

Could anyone tell me the Bosch part number for a '79 SC warm up regulator please? I have a spare one but not sure if it is for a '79 or later. Marking on the body is 0 438 140045 also 919. Regards

Hi David
Managed to check my warm up regulator this morning. My engine is the 3.0litre 188bhp version which I believe came from a '79 car. The code showing is 0 438 140 089. The engine was uprated to the 204 bhp model some time ago using hc pistons plus all the injection bits and pieces for the 204 engine. The warm up reg on that 204 version has the same code, though the warm up cycle of the engine is quite diferent if you swop the regulators over!
Maybe someone will come up with the official numbers for all the SC models.

The 188 hp cars are 1980 models starting in August '79.I've got one on a V reg and have to keep explaining it's an '80 not a '79 car.I then go into anorak mode and point out the multi tube oil cooler instead of the old type serpentine on the '79 cars and the turbo finned valve covers introduced on the '80 model. Those extra 8 horsepower make all the difference!!!!

Some would say the early SCs already had around 188 bhp but Porsche had to state the 'most correct' figure from '80 onwards and not under specify the output as sometimes they seem to have. The only difference between the engines is in compression ratio 8.5:1 and 8.6:1, according to my rough calculations good enough for less than 1bhp? [8D]

Thanks all for your excellent help. Just to put you in the picture I have a 79 SC which was completely rebuilt (engine) using new 3.2 barrells and pistons, SSIs etc. Recently developed some hesitation/jerking when decelerating and also high idle when warm (2000rpm). I have a spare new WUR which I was thinking of fitting but when I removed the old one (which I think is the original) I discovered that the electrical connections in the plug were corroded (only a little but enough to make a poor contact). I cleaned everything up and put the old WUR back. Everything is now fine, starts well, warms up at 1200 for a while and then idles steadily at 900 and no hesitation/jerking. The marking on the old WUR is 0438 140 069 and 925 marked elsewhere on the top case. The marking on the new WUR is 0438 140 045 and 145 marked elsewhere on the top case, any one got any ideas? It looks as though the new one should be the right one and the old existing fitted one is the wrong one but works perfectly ok (owned the car 7 years, track days, Le Mans cicuit etc and really flies). Best regards.

Thanks again for the info, I appreciate it. I will persue the Porsche part number Paul and see where that leads me. Might just try the new WUR and see what happens. Best regards.
