Warm welcome at OPC........NOT!

Well Small and I toddled of to our OPC after having had Martyn's invite to look at the Driver Selection goodies for Christmas.

I must say, we were made to feel about as welcome as a sexually transmitted disease.

What made it worse; there was a rather lovely 997 GT3R in the car park when we arrived - black with orange decals and cage [8D] I thought "I'll take some snaps of that in a minute". After a very brief look around inside I came out to find the car had gone. I went back in to ask if the car was still about and was told that as it had been sold I wouldn't be allowed to photograph it. What a lot of cock! []

There is a real trend here, we have just sold a Mini S works the dealers were great, fantastic service that cost nogthing and helpfull friendly staff. A complete contrast to OPC who we fell out with (big style) within weeks of buying a Boxster S, and worse still Porsche customer services who are in a parallel universe. Has Porsche Germany any idea whats going on[]

Hum, have to say we have just picked up our Cooper S and the dealer was a sham. For what it was worth reported them to BMW and got a few issues resolved that way.
In contrast the 'local' OPC have always been helpful, infact once they drove down a spare part when the old one failed

The big problem with Porsche dealers is they don't have to try. People will buy Porsches, despite the dealers, because they want a Porsche. I bought a couple of Land Rovers and a Jaguar from main dealers and was made to feel a valued customer on every occasion - I couldn't fault them and would recommend anyone to buy a Jag particularly.

If my ship comes home, and I have £90K burning a hole in my pocket, wild horses would not drag me to an OPC. I'll be buying another Jaguar or an Aston.

In fairness my experience of BMW dealerships is similar to that of Porsche - I'll not be visiting one of them again.

It takes all sort's, I am not saying all OPC's are bad and that all mini dealers are great, in fact our supplying OPC was very good, that's why we gave him 40K and drove away well pleased. Its just so bad when a Porsche dealer goes tits up. Our expectations are high and rightly so[;)]

Generally, dealers of all makes seem to be very variable. OPC Swindon have always been very good to me and the welcome is great - typically, I'll only be there twice a year but am greeted by name both times. I could name two other OPCs where I (and other family members) have been treated badly, but I won't bother.

Likewise, the BMW North Oxford have consistently treated me very well, and this has resulted in a relationship that has lasted some 8 years. Two other dealers have been downright rude to me.

Oddly, there seems to be a rule of 2:1 .... and I'm now thinking of two Merc dealers who were worse than useless; one was responsible for helping maintain the relationship with NOG for a good few years. Another was downright rude but a third was exceedingly helpful.

Audi ... don't start me on them ....

It's not just OPC, tried to buy a new Discovery Three at Ashford Middx Land Rover dealer earlier this year -walked out in disgust at the lack of interest -I was ready to deal there and then.....................

Perhaps, because they have shiny show rooms and leather sofas, we expect something different but, at the end of the day, they are car dealers. Why should we expect any better service than some chap with a sheep skin selling second hand Modeos? But then, because they put themselves up as being better, shouldn't OPC's be better?

I have had bad experiences with OPC EL. "" Don't get me started"¦ This will become the PCGBF's longest post"¦

Aw, come on. Nothing makes people feel better than hearing someone else has been treated worse than they have. And telling us will be therapeutic. [;)]
