Warning message after battery drained

reevers

New member
My 2005 , C2 Tip was left for 2 weeks. The battery was understandably flat. Recharged battery and car started no problem. PCM error message was cleared , but Engine management warning light comes on and goes off over the course of a journey.

Car is driving fine with no noticeable faults, which may incur the warning light to go on.

Any ideas of what this could be?

It sounds like your battery may still have issues.

If your battery is 4 years or older then it would be a likely suspect.

Not sure about the cause, but my advice would be to get it hooked up to an electronic diagnostics, see what that shows up and maybe give it a reset?

I had a similar issue recently, but it was my PASM light that was coming on for about a week, a clear did the trick (local independent Porsche garage was helpful to do this in a few mins) - light stopped coming on the morning after the clear.

Good luck ;)

I had the same thing on my 997 when I had a flat battery. Had a few lights on but they cleared quickly.

Also, a friend has a Boxster and had the same thing as well.

No lights have re-appeared on mine since and runs fine.

I think its possibly a glitch in the system that accrue from a flat battery start.

Saying that, taking it to a dealer (or a friendly PCGB RO) where they can look at the system on their computer could put your mind at ease.
