Warning - Two Tone C4S

I have a November 02 Arctic Silver C4S. Last month the engine cover (but not the spoiler) suddenly changed colour to something like Meridian Silver.

I have got absolutely nowhere with my OPC or Porsche UK with this issue - all I am being offered is a respray of the engine cover despite six weeks of complaining. I have even tried getting the dealer to buy the car back at something a little better than trade, but I have got nowhere even with this. The OPC has also not supported me at all with any dealings with Porsche UK.

On a recent trip to Switzerland, the car also repeatedly jumped out of second gear under heavy breaking going down mountain passes.

This is my second Porsche, I had a lot of albeit minor problems with my first (a new Boxster S), and it will definitely be my last despite being a Porsche fanatic for the last 30 years.

I don' t think I would be very happy either!

What reasons did Porsche give for the paint changing colour? Presumably it was something to do with the heat from the engine?

What about 2nd gear jumping out? Why have they not sorted that problem out?

Maybe they tested the car and could not get 2nd gear to jump out, and offering you a respay of the offending engine cover seems reasonable enough?

Spooky, I haven' t heard of that B4, is the part that changed colour plastic on the C4S ?
Sadly all cars develop faults now & again, so I wouldn' t be too hard over the 2nd gear situation, as long as they can fix it. The paint change is strange, if it was me I would accept the respray, but ask for a little " extra" compensation, like alloy handbrake & gear lever or something else from the options brochure, plus a letter confirming that they will replace the car if any other paintwork changes colour !! Once it is fixed you will fall back in love with the beast, it' s a great car, having said this £60 odd grand is a lot of money & we all have a right to " exceptional" service at Porker price levels. Let us know how you get on.

is the part that changed colour plastic on the C4S

The louvred part that acts as retractable spoiler and engine grill, is plastic. I guess it is the same as a C2/C4 etc.
The rest metal, apart from the read reflector strip.
