Warranty claim through an indi?

Good question

The warranty contract states in its 'Details of Service' section

'Please do not make your own repair arrangements as we cannot reimburse costs incurred without prior authorisation'.

So that seems to open the way for others to do the work if you have prior authorisation.
However It's probably very unlikely you're ever going to get prior authorisation, as Porsche make money on every valid claim you make if you take it to them to carry out the work.

I can understand for a classic but what advantage are you getting by taking a modern Porsche to an Indi when the work is fully paid for by the warranty? Plus I don't think an Indi will give you a courtesy Porsche while the work is being carried out...

I guess if the indi is close by and trusted, and the nearest OPC is miles away and aren't great, then I would be tempted too.

Simply convenience. I started using independents when the car got to 3+yrs. It's going in for an ongoing alignment issue, and I want it hooked up to the analyser to see if this explains the apparent change in fuel consumption. If the AMS has failed or is failing I don't want to have to make a separate arrangement to then get it into the OPC.
