Warranty expiring

Hi
The 1yr OPC warranty which came with my car expires next month - just received letter asking if I would like to extend for a further year for £1079 or 2 yrs £2065. The car is going in tomorrow for a new MAF & (hopefully!) new oil sender as a fault indicator has been coming on occasionally. Also had all rads replaced on warranty - the very slight coolant leak was actually the coolant cap needed replacing!

What do you think - good value, expensive or waste of money..? Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated as ever.

Thanks
Mark

I didn't renew my OPC warranty last year when they changed the scheme because of the limitation that all servicing and maintenance _has_ to be done by an OPC and no 3rd party add-ons (such as my tracker) are allowed.

I just use a decent indo and make sure its serviced etc. Not only have you got the OPC warranty cost but you also have OPC servicing prices. Adds up very quickly agianst using and Indi. A grand a year + Service costs can buy you a lot at an Indi.

Just my thoughts anyway

Thanks for your replies - just an update from Wednesdays visit to the local OPC.

In their opinion the slight hesitation when accelerating is not the MAF but possibly a software problem within the gearbox - they tell me they have requested a technical diagnosis report from Germany..? They have however replaced the oil sender unit and are also replacing cracked coil packs when the car goes back to them for the MOT - this expires a few days before the warranty expires.

All this has got me thinking though, maybe some sort of warranty is a good idea as these problems that have cropped up would have made the wallet a fair bit thinner... suppose it's a bit of a gamble.

Thanks again
Mark
