Warranty renewal abroad???

I wonder if anyone has experience of renewing their extended warranty in Europe, and are there any negative ramifications?
My car broke down recently and is still in a French OPC for repairs under warranty - it looks possible that I won't get it back until after the warranty expires on 30 July. I'm wondering about getting them to renew it while it's with them.
Any thoughts or advice?

Loud noise from the front of my 996 sounded like 'wheel bearings'. The car has been transported to a Porsche dealer in France
for repair, as it is not fit to drive to the UK. I certainly think you should get the warranty extended whilst your car is abroad but your
local dealer in UK would be the best to advise.

From what I understand its a European warranty controlled from Germany..
So Jon I think it may be worthwhile if its a comparable/better price.
