Warranty

Do members reckon the Porsche warranty is worth it ?
After a multi point check at around £120 the warranty is £720 per year.
Obviously it excludes wear and tear items and, predictably, suspension in view of the weaknesses of standard shock absorbers and wishbones. It would cover engine detonation (hopefully unlikely) and possibly reduce sleepless nights depending on one's attitude to risk.
Is there a concensus amongst members?

I have it and to me, the peace of mind was worth the price. As it happened I have had a couple of claims which have added up to the cost of the warrantee so financially I have broken even. You also get breakdown cover included.

For 996 owners this is a must as it covers the RMS

I have inherited OPC warranty for my 2CS following recent purchase, but all brochures state that it is non-renewable once car reaches 9th birthday, which is back-end of this year.

So, do you guys have cars less than 9 years old or does Porsche do a warranty that I am not aware of (and they have not told me about!)?

Regards Kevin

I extended my warranty for a further 2 years after purchase for piece of mind - if anything major had gone I would have struggled to find the cash to repair.

This was under the old warranty set-up, so I also gained a year at the better level of cover when I should have lost some benefits.

Have a chat with the OPC to see their view on repairs. I discussed PCGB Track Days with them, and was told that if the car was recovered to the OPC, the warranty would still be valid - couldn't get this in writing, but it did sway my decision!

I too more than broke even, but at first the OPC were generous with the repairs. In the last few months (when Porsche bought out the dealership), it wasn't quite the same and I didn't bother to renew.
