They tried to dispute that an electronic sensor is not covered although coil packs are?? both are inert electronic objects and do not move so why is one covered and not the other!!

I elected not to extend my warranty, £800 for another year was too much for me. Personally Porsche should give a 3 year warranty as standard at no cost. At the end of the day though it's a matter of choice, if having the warranty buys you peace of mind, then it was money well spent, assuming that when you need to claim it all works. Other companies do offer similar insurance at a fraction of the cost if you look around.
Well thats what started the journey actually. I bought the car with an aftermarket warranty but they wanted £900 to renew so I went for the official one at that price. My 911 has just gone beyond the 9 year limit so one Porsche risk (996 at that) is enough. Peace of mind is imprtant for the daily transport, and certainly the 996 forum always recommends Porsche warranty.

Lenghty discussions but in the end both PorcheGB and dealer covered some of cost ,still left with 2.5k difference for a leaky car.
We changed the windscreen and passenger door seal and hey presto! Dry as a bone. Last service only needed new plugs and coils but still all up 1.3k.
Decided not to take up warranty but did buy Porsche assist from RAC @ £120 for peace of mind. On the other hand the 911 turbo has been renewed.....
