Was that you? Guards Red Turbo SE

Hi Nick! It was me that was driving that guards red 911 Turbo. Decided to take the old girl out for a quick blast as I felt the need for speed. [;)][:D] I was out in it most of the day. Visited my parents (they live in Jarvis Brook) and went down to the coast and had an ice cream!!

Nice looking car. I spotted you on the way down Crowborough Hill in Jarvis Brook, presumably on the way to see your folks, then going north on the A26 a few hours later. Hope you enjoyed yourself.

That particular car is a near perfect example of what the Special Wishes programme can do for your Porsche. I'm pleased to hear that it's being used in winter - perhaps not today though!

Nick - You presume correctly. First time you saw me I was on the way to my parents. The second time (if my directions/geography is correct) I was heading towards Tunbridge Wells on the A26? I was just out for a general blast then. You know the bit of uphill dual carriageway that runs from where Eridge station is up to where the Boars Head pub is? I know what speed my 911 SC is capable of reaching towards the top of that stretch of road if I put it through the gears from 60 mph at the bottom of the hill. I just wanted to see what the 911 Turbo was capable of on the same stretch of road. Needless to say the Turbo was considerably quicker, in fact I backed off about two thirds of the way up the hill as the speed I had reached at that point was, shall we say, getting a little bit silly!!! [;)][:)]

Where abouts in the area do you live and what Porsche do you drive?

That bit of road is famous locally. I heard recently of a guy achiving 170mph on an Kawasaki ZZR up that hill.

I live just outside Crowborough in the Ashdowm Forest. I have several 911s and a 912 at the moment, hopefully my 74 3.0 RS replica will be on the road shortly. You won't miss that with it's Mexico Blue paint and RSR exhaust!

Ashdown Forest is a nice part of the world to live in. I live in Aylesford over near Maidstone but my cars are stored close to where my parents live so I usually end up driving the 911s around the Crowborough area and down towards the coast (Lewes/Brighton/Seaford) where I know the roads well and there is a mixture of long straights, decent corners and good driving roads. [;)][:D]

I`d like to see your 3.0 RS replica. Next time I`m going to be over in the the Crowborough area to exercise one of the 911s I may drop you an email to see if you would possibly be available for a meet up, if you`d like to of course? [:)]

I look forward to meeting you. I organised a drive around Sussex last September for mainly PCGB members, we have some very underated roads especially the A272.

Nick - If you organise a similar event this year and are short on numbers I`d be interested in taking part as long as I had a bit of notice so I could organise my diary and get the car out of storage. [:)]

(Although it says Non Member in my posts I am a fully paid up member of the PCGB! [:)] )
