Wash and Wax

Hi all, just wondered what the most popular wax is? Zymol seems good but not cheap. Are there any good alternatives? Ebay is full of people saying that their product is as good as zymol, ie Harley made from No 1 Carnauba yellow wax? What do you think?

If people are using Zymol as the bench mark, the answer is clear use Zymol. A lot of money to buy but not expensive. Also the wax lasts for years, you will need to replace the field glaze a couple of times a year if you use it often. It's a very good product if used[/b] properly. I wouldn't use any thing else.

Thanks Marc, I guess I was gradually reaching that conclusion. I'd better get a tub of elbow grease to go with it.

Zymol goes a long way if used sparingly and pound for pound is probably better value than the common or garden polishes / waxes. I have used it for the last 6 years or so and it has not disappointed me yet.

I hope you don't take this as some kind of advert, but I just had mine Zymolled, and hopefully will succeed in attaching some photos.
I got Dave from www.sportscarprotection.com to give mine the Royale treatment, and while it cost £400, I honestly have to admit that it looks like a different car.
You should see 1 or 2 pictures from December when I bought it, and then some from after the job was done, and from my perspective the results are simply spectacular

I know they are not exactly perfect comparisons, but I hope they give you a good idea of what kind of results you a professional can get from Zymol.

That is unbelieveable!!!!

My sentiments exactly.
If I did not actually know that it was my car, I would not believe it was the same car.
Bit hard to believe it is actually a 3 year old car.

That fantastic. I had my new C4S Cab Zymolled, by my OPC, although it looks good it hasn't got the depth of shine that your car has. My other cars were done by a local Zymol rep and I think he has achieved a much better result. I was never really happy about letting the OPC do the car but it came as part of the deal. When I have it redone I think that I will go back to the Zymol rep.

Zymol does seem expensize compared to other waxes, but the results really are amazing.
And when you think that a tank of petrol costs £50 now days, then a pot of £100 zymol that will last well over a year really isnt that bad.

If you do buy this though you will need to set aside about 4 -5 hours to do a full zymol treatment. But you dont have to Zymol the car at every wash, it really does protect the car for a couple of months.

Here is a picture of my car, a couple of washes after it had a zymol treatment, im biased but I think it still looks good.

That is a gorgeous finish, I am now considering paying the £400 that is worth every penny. How can I get it by the Mrs?...Hmmmmm......Does she need to know?........ [8D]

I work on the basis that if I don't ask my wife how much she spends on shoes, then she shouldn't ask how much I spend on the car.

Just hope she doesn't look on this forum, or she may find a sudden urge to go shoe shopping.
