Wastegate turbo actuators

Hi Folks ,
Anyone know what the fix is for a worn wastegate actuator ball joint ,
My off side one popped off this week and the ball looks quite corroded
The actuator arm on both are quite free and not hard to push when operated by hand so its not a turbo problem
just the ball joint . There seems to be a gaurd on the left one but on the right one I presume to stop road dirt etc .
Need to sort before next trip to Goodwood
Thx

The 997TT doesn't have waste gates. The VTG turbos are modulated to manage boost pressure, so presumably this is the linkage you mean?

Hi Yes they are Its the drivers side Ive laced it so the movement is ok and that has cured it for the time being . The ball on the turbo piece is bit thats worn and it all seems integral with the turbo , Cant believe you have to exchange a Turbo for 20p ball the rods are available at bout £30 . Turbos are about 1700 exchange plus fitting I guess . Its flying again until a fix can be sorted.

I'm no expert, but I did read somewhere that there was a Porsche maintenance 'campaign' on these VTG actuators - 'W902' and that there is an 'officia' lubricant: WSP 5040 Part no: 999.917.778.00 - via parts department Also see this post: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=422994&mpage=1&key=W902&#423569 Not sure if this helps if yours is beyond redemption, but worth a look

I have this same problem on one of my Turbos. Does anybody know a cheaper fix to this other than replacing the complete Turbo?

Thanks in anticipation

Richie.

There must be an engineering solution.

Have you tried contacting any of the turbo specialists that are around? [;)]
