Water behind Drivers Seat

Got my car back from Porsche only to discover that after they used a jet wash machine to clean it with that the foot well behind the drivers seat had a filled with water and loads of it! The only thing missing was the fish! It has never had water from me hand washing it and the rain. So took it back and gave it a test to see were it was leeking from. I think it from the rear side window. i checked the sunroof drainage holes and pipes that run down the back and all ok. And checked behind the the grill in the door and body to. Has any one had a water problem like this to? Any other ideas?

I too had this problem. It was not the sunroof, but a faulty windscreen seal. By the time it was identified, the DME was toast due to the amount of water that had been constantly drenching it in the footwell :-(

Thanks for the reply. It's deffinatly not the windscreen. We tested just the rear side window and door and not near the windscreen and water came in. If it was the windscreen the front footwells would fill up first . It's my read drivers side one that lets in water.

If it only happens with a jetwash then you are probably okay to leave it. You have already checked the sunroof drains which are the main cause of leaks that I have heard of to the rear footwell, because the pipe that runs inside the C-pillar gets detached.

If it is definitely the window then a new seal would seem the way to go. I know of people who have popped this seal in and out [] when they want to remove interior trim to replace the rear speakers. If unsure yourself then I am sure a local windscreen place could help.

The rear 1/4 seal is availabe from Forest Fine who advertise in PP for £24.74

At last the "Wet Foot Well" question! How long has this forum been going and this is the first time we've been there?

It might be quicker to ask who hasn't had a wet footwell.

From various annecdotes, as I understand, wet footwells can be due to:-

1. Blocked sunroof drains,

2. Dodgy rear window seals

3. Sunroof drain pipes comming off their mountings or the rear drivers side comming off at the filler cap drain junction.

4. Leaking sun roof seals.

5. Leaking tailgate seals - check the underside of the removable rear roof trim or inside of the headling, as the headlining then acts as a membrane to direct the water else where.

6. Hyraulicing through the head lining - if the headlining has come partialy unstuck the fabric backing sucks up water from the sunroof drain gully. When stuck the adhesive acts as a seal.

As your problem seems to have come about through pressure washing I would consider leaking side windows or tailgate seal as the most likely culprit.

Well, even after 5 944's it's me! I had one in the Golf last month though (because the cover for the cold air intake into the blower fan was loose).

Any tips for getting rid of the nasty damp smell?

Thanks all for your advice, it's good to know i have you guy's.
Any way i checked everything apart from the junction pipe from the filler cap ans sunroof pipes. I can't see that comming loose as i can't really get to it anyway. I think it mst be th rear side window. So thats the next step to find a good window fitter.
Cheers all
