There I am, minding my own business and trying to dry out my car. (see earlier posts)
I have found out also that my drivers door is contributing to the monsoon within. Great. Apparently the seal / membrane is bust.
I get into it this morning and every bump I hit creates an expensive sounding clunking noise from the front nearside.
So off we go to Peter Lorimer at Lorimer and Findlay who, with quite literally no notice, takes the car out for a check, brings it in, clears a ramp and sticks it up in mid air.
Wandering around underneath the car Pete announces nothing is wrong at the bottom end.
So the ramp comes down a bit and he digs around the wheelarches particularly the nearside where all the action seems to be coming from.
Might have been this, he pronounces, lifting the pictured lump of metal out of the spring carrier.
Broken spring.
With the roads we have here I shouldn't be surprised but I have never ever had a spring break on me before, and that's over a history of more than 30 cars.
Does the 997 have any history of this?
I guess this notice is a bit of thanks to Pete for his efficiency (well, he does now have the job of replacing stuff!) and a big thumbs down to Glasgow and surrounds for the desperate state of the roads which can cause such a beefy item to snap. I think I'll be sending them the bill.
