Water leak diagnosis

Hi guys, new member,
1st time porsche Boxster owner.
Drove the car saturday with the roof down and heaters on hot and fan 3/4 full blower keeping warm, right to putting the car in the garage.
after switching engine off, there sounded like either a tank or pipe split/leaking, water spilling from somewhere…. Couldn’t pinpoint…
several hours later around a cup full of water on the garage floor… was water, no smell, no viscosity, leak coming centrally from the undertray just in front of the front wheels.
next day, no more water on the floor, started up, nothing….
Havnt drove it since…. Could the water be from the heater matrix or is there like an overflow hose or how does it all work when the heaters have been on like I had them.
any help before I get someone to have a look at it, or whether it needs looking at, at all.
Thanks all, GenII boxster on 10 plate

Thanks for the reply….

honestly, i didn’t turn the aircon on…. Does the A/C have an auto on, depending on the fan/temp settings?
No but ironically if the light is illuminated on the AC switch it’s actually off and not on as you’d expect. Are you aware of this and inadvertently have it on believing it’s off?

oh….. no, wasn’t aware…..

hopefully that’ll be it then!

Appreciate your help….

praying they’ll be no leaks on the next run out 🤞🏻

Hi,

if your car has climate then when in “auto” the a/c condenser will be running. Current humidity is 96% (west central Scotland) so I would expect lots of water discharge from the a/c under the car. If you press the “eco” button an orange light comes on and your a/c condenser is shut off, you won’t get additional cooling or dehumidifying and no water under car. For piece of mind you may want to get to know the normal coolant level for your car. In my Gen 1 987 it’s in the rear boot easy to access but really hard to read without a strong light. As mentioned above the a/c controls for the Boxster are not so intuitive. Enjoy your Boxster.

Regards

Jeff
