This is Fixed now - turns out small hole in a metal pipe - Now needs Oil Cooler
My 996 is down in Aberdovey at present with a Water Leak from the front of the Engine (Near the Top)
Guys have got it leaking but just need to work out where its coming from

Went to Porsche Wolverhampton only to be told its leaking from the top of the engine Not really any help as they would not give me any idea of how much it would cost or what it was - That cost 85.00 - Not impressed

F1 in Shrewsbury had pressure tested it and could not get it too leak - but did inspect all the lower hoses and said the where pretty sure they where OK

Apparently the hose clips do loose tension and can leak under pressure - Everyone recommends using normal high quality clips and I think the Porsche replacement ones are standard now. Just checked the replacement clips from Porsche and they are "Standard" screw type clips - INTERESTING!!

As a matter of interest does anybody have a schematic which shows all the pipes and hoses - preferably with the engine and gearbox

I have PET but it give no real hint of where they attach to the engine gearbox

My leak is a really interesting one - It takes about 2 hours of pressure/ running before it starts leaking.
Lost 2.5 litres of water driving down to Dynas Mauwdy ion Wales from Shrewsbury hoping its just a clip of pipe!!

Looks like its one of the metal pipes at the back of the Engine (Front End) Wynn has not seen one if those

Cant look at it till Sunday

Has anybody heard of a leak from a pipe (He doesn't think its a hose!

I was looking at the hoses for the cooling to see if I could pin point an area and I came across on another forum that this had happened to a guy before and it showed a Ali pipe about 10mm in size where some thing had been rubbing on it. ill try and fit it again sorry not much help Found the link http://www.autoatlanta.co...s/996-99-05/105-05.php

Thanks for the post
That's a better reprint of the Porsche Parts PET
Not really that helpful because it doesn't show where the pipes and hoses attach (Porsche fault)
The hose on the bottom right part no is the main hose from the coolant tank down to the bottom of the engine with three outlets on the left looking from the back of the car. Can understand why its shown on the left back?
Believe it or not its under 20.00 from Porsche
Could really do with an illustration which shows the various components they attach to
Because I can get under the car I took it down to a garage in Aberdovey north of Aberystwyth that was recommended by a couple of Members from that area
They have pressure tested it a number of times and it takes 2 hours to leak!!!
So as soon as the ramp is free he intends to confirm which pipe it is, remove the cover under the car and the pipe and repair or make another up

Hopefully will get it back next week.

Hope its not caused by corrosion inside the engine as that could be nasty!!

Pin hole leak in one of the Pipes

Wynn has fixed this but weve still got a problem of a leak from the Oil Cooler
Any ideas please
