[FONT=courier new"]I have a water leak in my passenger footwell. When it rains hard, there is a puddle that gather aroung the air con unit, around 1/2 a cup full. Any ideas on how to sort it.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

When i worked in a dealership we used to have someone spray the hose around the area we thought the leak comes from,, do this while someone inside the car looks for the water ingress.

Could be the windscreen seals, happened on my 993TT. There is movement which can cause wear around the edges of the screen. A coloured dye in the water should show it up.....
good luck.

have you had the windscreen replaced recently, ...... or are you sure the 'water' was not from a passenger pi##ing themselves !!

no havent had the windscreen done at all. i am going to check the door seals next and see how i go

I just replaced the "up and over" seals that go round the inner door jam. They fix to the bodywork with about 10 small screws per side.

My old ones were perished and when it rained hard I would get a trickle of water down the door cards near the speakers. If you get enough water through here it could collect in the footwell.

Other than that my motor still leaks like a sieve. I get rain water through into my dashboard in all kinds of places [:(]

did the water leak in between the door and door card?

No, actually along the outer side of the doorcard! When I got in the car I could see where water had trickled down the doorcard.
The seal which screws to the inner joor jam ends above the upper hinge - I think it needs to go down a bit further to direct the water right down the front edge of the door skin (instead of inside the cabin!) but the new seal was exactly the same length???

Another vote for the drain holes, which block up sometimes and on some cars go from the bottom windscreen area to the wheel arches.

If they block with dirt or leaves, water can then drip into the footwells.

I don't know if this is so on Porsche but it is a common problem in other cars.

I think the sunroof drain holes at the front are rigid pipes inside the A-pillars. I cleaned mine out the other week.
If they rot then I guess the water would get in an run down the inside of the A-pillars but I dont know where it would go from there???

Nathan, next time it rains I will get some photos of the water coming in. Its really getting on my nerves especially as I just put new seals in...

I've been meaning to poke some plastic strimmer wire down my suroof drain holes. I tried a reel of leaded solder wire but it was too soft.

I recommend net curtain wire. The metal helical coil stuff with plastic coating so it wont scrape the paint off the inside of the tubes. Dob some hot melt glue on the exposed end of the wire as well just in case.

The drain tubes are about 1/4" ID, plenty of room for net curtain wire but not much room for soggy leaves :-(

Attatched is a photo of the drivers door card, where the water trickles in near the window switches. Changed the inner door seal and this made no difference.
