Went out lunchtime and after a down pour here in wet Leicester, I noticed a few streaks of water that have run down from the bottom of the passemger door speak.

After checking the bottom of the carpet around the speaker it was found to soaked [:(]

So any ideas on what to check first when I get home from work please !

thanks

Mark

Mark,
I'll leave the diagnostics to this forum's experts but I can give you my recent experience of the possible effects of wet carpets on the passenger side. My C2's central locking unit is sited on the floor under the passenger seat. If the water gets into it it shorts the central locking system. (The large bill for replacing it was tempered only by the remarkable sight of the soft-top putting itself up and down at will, without any human interference.)

Higgy

Richard,

I think it's because your wife leaves the roof down in the Novell carpark in all weathers.[:D]

Mark,

I have suffered with this problem on a previous Boxster and on my current 996 Cab. The problem is almost certainly to be the failure of a waterproof membrane situated behind the door panel. It is about £200 to replace (inc labour) but will be covered by warranty.

Good luck,

Adrian Tillin

Definitely door membrane.

Instructions on removing the door trim are here - its not too difficult to replace the membrane yourself, probably need a hot glue gun, thats all.

Boxster Door trim removal

there might be a few extra screws hidden awayh on the 996 door panel.

Well thanks to all.

There was a slight split in the membrane which PCT CARS/AUTOBAHN rectified free of charge.
