Water loss, help!

I know its been hot but after a journey today I noticed there was a hissing noise from the engine after turning it off. [&:]
Upon investigation, I had lost a lot of water and the hissing noise and a small amount of steam was coming from the back of the engine at the top in the vicinity of the oil filler cap.
I wonder if there is a water pipe hidden under there?
Any of my 944 chums have any ideas please? Hoping its not the dreaded 'HG' word. [:)]

Thanks guys, very helpful. Do you know how they can be accessed? They look well hidden! Maybe a job for my indie [&:]

They are well hidden but should be visible behind the oil filler, or on the otherside at the end of the rail over the exhaust.

One of them is not too tricky to change. The other does indeed have very limited space, and is 'interesting' to change.

Thanks for your help/suggestions guys. Very useful. It turned out to be the gasket in the small thermostat type housing found at the back/top of the engine where that pipe leads from. Somebody in the past had used three washers on one of the bolts but it still wasn't nipping it down fully as the bolt was tooooo long! Now sorted by Gavin the 944 expert at RS Cars[:)]

Gavin (sumpcracker) knows a thing or two about these cars! I spoke to him at length when I bought a rear quarter section from RS a few months ago.
