water pump change

ok, here is the story, I am wondering if anyone can help

buy new waterpump, belts and all the other little bits.

start to dismantle the car, I have the clarkes manual etc, set the car to TDC as they say and put in my flywheel lock, take of all the other bits and pieces but leave the main crank pully till last

no I have managed to sheer a 1/2 inch drive extension in two trying to get the nut/bolt undone, rechecked TDC and it looked like it had moved (i can not locate it again, another issue.)

I am guessing my only option now is to get it to a specialist, like northway, although I can not drive it there, does any one know a specialist that will pick up a vehicle?

so nearly there on the disassemble, can not get the water pump off, as the back of the belt cover will not come off until the crank pully is removed.

oops

Try again with a long socket and no extension. You can find tdc by aligning with a notch in the bottom of the clutch cover.

Flywheel lock must have moved, check it is not breaking the teeth!!!!

I had to use a long impact type socket (full hexagonal) with my mate holding 2ft stilsons (monkey wrench) on the socket. A 6ft scaffolding pole on the wrench just about managed to undo it, it did not go with a bang but moaned and groaned for a 1/4 turn. I thought I was going to shear it or rip the engine off its mounts!!!

I did the belts on my turbo without removing the pulley, not looking forward to doing the water pump on that.

Why didn't they design the rear cover that can be removed without taking the pulley off!

My lux also sheared two water pump bolts.
