Water Pump Costs

I'am having all the belts and tensioners done on my 944S2, I've been advised to have the water pump changed while the belts are off and as there is 120,000 miles on the clock its due a new one. I looked at the PorsheShop and they want arround £400 for one, is there an aftermarket non-porsche avaiable anywhere ? As £400 seems a bit steep for a pump.

mine cost me about £150 + vat and shipping from the states, total all in was about £190 as I got a couple of other items shipped over at the same time.

Bert was £340 for an S2 pump when I asked a few weeks ago. Has anyone re-conditioned their own pump?? It can only be a few seals and bearings and those are not expensive.

Try Euro-Car parts dont take there first price you can knock them down.

Just bought an AFM, Bert £230 - ECP £140.

The last time I bought a waterpump was 2 years ago and paid sub £150.

It seems Porsche (or Laso) has increased the price of water pumps by 30% since I last checked last year, even for an exchange unit.
I believe US suppliers have a fair amount of pumps they bought before the recent price increase and it would be a good idea to buy from them before they run out of stock and have to import newly-priced units from Europe again.

I had a re-con pump fitted to a 944 (2.5) once. It seized snapped the cam belt and demolished the valve train[]

Crikey....they have gone up a lot. [] I had mine done 3 years ago by my local garage along with all belts rollers and tensioners. They sourced all parts from Lancaster Porsche and charged me £191 + VAT for the pump.
