Water Temperature Gauge Fault

Hi.

This is my first post as a new member and I hope someone can help me.

I bought my first 911 (997.1) recently and I am getting an intermittent fault on my water temperature gauge. Occasionally (but more so as time goes on) the gauge needle goes to zero and the red indicator lamp flashes; at the same time I get a fault warning. Before going to hook up to diagnostics, I wanted to just check the connections to the sender unit but I've had trouble finding where the sender unit is! The best clue I've had so far is an explanation of how to remove the engine wiring harness, which shows a connector to the water temperature sensor, which appears to be somewhere under the belt on the right side (see attached pic - connector 36). Can anyone confirm this is the sensor that sends the temp to the gauge?

Thanks!

Thanks Geoff. I will inspect and let you know if I resolve. I guess the sensor itself could be faulty so that will be my next port of call.
