Water under passenger seat - 987 Boxster

What happened:
Water had been collating under the passenger seat, this caused the ECU underneath to short - causing 3 things:
- the alarm went off twice at 3 am outside my parents house (I was on holiday)
- the windows went down
- the roof ATTEMPTED to open (this didn't happen as the latch was in place - instead it broke 2 ball joints in the roof mechanism)

My problem solving:
I have since replaced the ball joints and ECU. I managed to nearly completely dry the car (I say nearly - the foam under the seat is the most absorbent material known to man)
The water appeared to be running down behind the passenger seat. There is a channel that runs bellow the roof trough that was filled to the brim with water, it appeared to be collecting here and running in.
I have also cleared the roof drains and made sure the roof skirt was fully in the trough; I checked the trough condition there are no visible tears. I checked the roof and door seals all seams to be in reasonable condition.
I sprayed water over my car for 10 minutes and there were was no water entering the cabin.

Current Dilemma:
The water is still getting in, however it now appears to be coming from somewhere around the centre console (I can't tell exactly where)??? - I checked the channel mentioned prior and it is dry.
I am not exactly sure how this could be or whether it's getting in from elsewhere and travelling across?
It seems like quite a slow leak, as if it is collecting somewhere and draining in.

Any recommendations welcome - thanks

^^ V Good idea^^

Plus, have you checked the 2 drains 'hidden' either side of the front battery tray?

These are a similar size to the rear drains but have no strainer mesh over them and can get blocked.

Cleaning as the rears, clean the opening, poke down each tube gently with something long and flush through. Drain rate is fast as the rears should be. The 4 drain holes should be a regular maintenance action.

Good luck with it all.

You sure it’s not the foam releasing water which has been absorbed?

Try feeling the carpet at the bottom of the doors - the door membrane may have perished & if so, the carpet at the bottom of the doors will be wet.

As already mentioned, I believe there are 4 drains in the scuttle area, 2 either side of the battery & 2 under the battery tray. Make sure these are clear.

Good luck with getting it sorted.

Linked are the drain plan for a 987 (there are more than you think 5 in the front, 4 in the back and 2 under the spoiler - no idea how you get to those. and rear drain clearing docs from Porsche if any use.

Additionally - as other have said door membranes (and missing door card clips) and I would add, pollen filter has a drain in the bottom of the housing which can block resulting in build up and water coming in under the glovebox, and the a/c has a condensate drain that sits under the carpet passenger side next to centre console - I have read of that becoming detached ( but thats pretty rare)

Thankyou for the responses, I think I may have solved the issue. Although the water had been definitely coming in from the previously blocked drain, I felt the fabric at the bottom of the door card last week and it was damp (not sure how I hadn't noticed that one before). I got some free time yesterday and managed to take it apart and found that the seal had completely disintegrated, I'll put a photo below I managed to put a new one together and a little sheet to direct the water away from seal and down the drain in the door so hopefully this doesn't happen again!
