Hi everyone. Well I'm now 2months into my 944 ownership and what a pleasant experience the whole thing seems to be. Full service, four new tyres and belts done she is now safe enough for new baby to be taken for drive!! Only one slight issue at the mo, probably one thats been discussed before so apologies. The two seals on the left and right side of the rear hatch on the outside that sit on the glass don't do exactly do ' what they say on the tin ' ie seal. Apparently these seals are no longer available (design 911 & porsche shop) so looking for any ideas! Your help is most appreciated.

Simon.

235 pounds EACH SIDE for the rubber mouldings for a softtop!!!

I was quoted much the same from Porsche Apart who I'm getting other parts from.
It's rubber right? Not golden rubber made with gold and bits of flesh from a dodo ??
Someone is having a larf.

Not sure which bit you mean [&:]

The hatch seal is one long rubber strip that goes right round the boot, it pulls off and on and costs £40 from most places. Porscheshop were cheapest when I replace mine.

Do you mean the two oblong rubber bungs that the hatch pins fit into?

Good point Paul. I wan't under the impression that the hatch fitted very well on softtops!???? [:D]

They had the parts for the coupe but not for the cab.
After ringing around looking for these 2 little rubber mouldings I get the same story.
Not being made, very rare, 500 Sterling for the pair etc etc...
I can nearly hear muffled laughter in the background.
500 quid !! I fink not.

Thanks guys, I will try to take a pic and then post to make my very poor description a little more clear!

Hi all. I have tried to upload some pics but says my files are too large. Have just read this post, 944 enhancements and there is a great pic on here, thanks to Diver944. If you look at the right hand pic the seal I'm talking about is the one you can see next to the thick brown strip of the rear heater in the glass. It is about 2 ft long and 1cm wide, it starts at the pointed end of the rear spoiler.

I hope this possibly makes it a little more clear.

Simon.

So you have a bridge spoiler car and you want the seal that runs from the spoiler up the outside of the tailgate?[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]In that case it doesn't actually DO anything, it's just a finisher to fill the gap between the fibreglass moulding and the glass.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I can't imagine it's no longer available as it's also a 968 part and I equally can't imagine it costs more than about £15, quite probably less.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Yep I now know which part you are referring to , I had one missing at is cost from memory about £23 from the OPC. As Fen states it serves no purpose.

Cheers
Chris

Cheers chaps! Been away for a few days hence delay in responding. The water must be coming in from elsewhere, back to the drawing board i guess!!
