Water Water ??

Gents,

Just returned from a soggy Lake district, and on start up this morning my 993 had a girdling sound coming from behind the dash !! On closer inspection I could see water coming out of the windscreen vent inside the car.

It had rained heavily overnight, and my thinking is that water had found its way in through the air vent at the top of the bonnet.

I would be keen to hear from any other owners as to whether this is the norm, or have we got a windscreen leak issue ?

(Ten minutes with the blower going rectified the problem by the way.)

Regards

Driven mine in rain a few times but never noticed this happen.

Perhaps my 'water cooled' car is not working correctly[;)]

My 993 has to put up with Scottish west coast rain and, while I've had the odd ingress of water due to flooding getting squirted into the cills / floor cross member, I've not had water in via the route you describe.

Someone else on here a few weeks ago mentioned water in via the side air vents. Bit of a rare one.

I had this once... In my 74 beetle... Holes in my heat exchangers was to blame. Now in the 993 I believe the cold air draw for the heaters is from the 2 rectangles that are visible under the engine??

In very heavy rain I can see that it's possible to suck up a bit of spray?
