waterpump lifetime

Hi all,

I'm considering doing a full belt service on a Turbo SE I've just bought.

Does anyone have a view on whether to replace the waterpump at the same time? -Car has done 102k

What tests could I use to check if the existing on is serviceable?

Thanks!

Eddy

It rather depends how old it is? Some garages tend to suggest every other belt change so 6-8 years or 70k ish others simply how it is performing.
I suppose if it is original then its due if you have paperwork more recently and it seems ok then leave it this time.
I have also read that rather annoyingly WPs tend to go after a belt change as the tension is higher.

If there's no sign of it being changed in 102K miles I'd think about changing it now. It's going to add a bit to the cost, but the labour is largely included in a belt service and if it fails you have to do the whole lot again. General recommendation seems to be every second belt change, so 8 years/80K mile max.
