Well, this weekend was my first chance to spend any time working on the S2, so I got a few little jobs done & gave her a good check over.
The screenwash leakage scare has now been sorted - removed the under tray & found the top of the plastic drain cap had sheared off. Cleaned that up & glued it back together, so fingers crossed, that will be fixed.
Took apart the passenger door card to investigate the non-functioning central-locking. After a good half an hour finding every screw to remove the door card (these Porsches certainly are well put together!), I found the actuator arm had simply popped off the locking rod! A simple fix, but another half hour to put it all back together again!
Friday I paid a visit to the bodyshop who are going to sort the rust repairs to the arch bottoms for me, & had a good look around at the dreaded brown stuff! Thankfully, the sills are v solid, but all 4 arch bottoms need some rust removal/repair. Nothing too major, apart from the drivers front arch, which the bodyshop guys & I reckon will be simpler just to replace, (so I'm on the lookout for a rot-free S2 OSF wing... anyone?). I was really impressed with the bodyshop I'm using, I've had work done by them before, but hadn't realised they do quite a lot of classic restoration work. They were really enthusiastic about doing my S2, one of the guys used to own an S2 Cab, but unfortunately due to a total restoration of an MG underway at the moment it's going to be May before they can do mine [
]. Oh, well, I guess it's worth waiting for someone I trust to do a good job.
It's booked in next week at Strasse in Leeds for servicing & belts doing & a thorough check over, so I'll keep you posted on what mechanical ailments may or may not come to light!
Let the project commence!
Cheers,
Robbo
