Weekend break idea..

I just booked a cheap hotel for me next Friday so I have somewhere to stop on the way to spa.. I just picked a small town/city about 1/2 way there from Dunkerque and found the cheapest hotel I could (although one has standards you understand!)

Looked good value, but then I found out that weekends (fri/sat/sun) any room is 79 euro including breakfast!.. bargain!

So I booked up and thought, the hotel is nice so it doesn't matter that its probably a grotty little town, at which point curiosity got the better of me and I had a look on t'internet to see what I was letting myself in for (my geography is rubbish, so sorry if you all know about this place already)..

..turns out its a veritable hotbed of activity with loads of things to look at and do, more bars than you can shake a stick at (including the longest bar in Europe) and to cap it all the Stella brewery is there aswell!..

Its an hour and a bit drive from Dunkerque, and Dover to Dunkerque is £35 return with Norfolk Line ferries, so a great spot for a bargain weekend away.. Just thought I would share the deet's incase anyone is thinking of a cheeky road-trip into northern Europe anytime
