weekend drive

It's been a while since the last one (unless no-ones told me about them..[] ). My enforced lay-off is coming to an end so I thought I'd ask for a few ideas for future drives. I should be available from September onwards, and whilst we're moving out of the prime season there's plenty of good driving roads, even for a short run.

Here's a start, post any good routes you know. Some venues have something to do at the other end, some just make for good driving.
  • Goodwood - nearly always something going on, great run last time.
  • Rye harbour
  • Ashdown Forest/Groombridge/Lamberhurst/Hurst Green/Heathfield (perhaps I'll find somewhere better to stop than the dump called Little Chef on the A21 next time [8|] )
  • Beachy Head (again)
  • Boxhill (Surrey)
  • Leith Hill (Surrey)
  • East Sussex border run - yes, I have a route that follows the border and it's quite varied and scenic. Can start/finish at any point (obviously, as it's circular). Can't remember but I think it's about 120 miles.
  • I also have a route that follows the West Sussex border, but it's quite a bit longer (maybe summer '06 ?) and I haven't driven hardly any of it. always willing to find an excuse to go and do so though... [:)]
  • Ashdown Forest and surroundings. I reckon I could find a good run without ever going more than a few miles from home.
OK, there's a start, what else is there?

How about those down the south-west part of the county? I don't know that area at all.

Or something Petworth way again - I know the A272 very well [:(] but not too many of the side roads (James? - P996997 - treated us to some good driving around there on the Goodwood 'home run')

I'll soon be able to produce a nice little library of runs.
