Similar time and feel to my last run......

Yes Well Done Mel.
Aim to get the battered old girl out at least once this season. Having some problems with electronics and cant move it to get it anywhere to fix it right now so its down to me (with Colin's help) to sort it. I have an entry for Clay Pidgeon and Goodwood.

Cheers
Simon

As said Mel, its about time you drove like you stole it, well done. More top tips and handy hints to come[;)]
Maybe i will have to go to bed early and no booze now, what a fantastic weekend of joy, alcohol, fast driving etc.
More of you must come out and play, get your toe in the water!![:)]
That Adrian is still slow though.......[:D]
9 mph faster over the finish line from the last chicane at Combe, how I don't know! Going in sideways should not be the fastest route.....[:)]
See you at Pigeon Simon, hopefully get your car sorted.....[]

I think Paul needs more ballast!

Agreed!!![:)]

And thanx for the advice Paul -dropping the rears 2psi and driving like I stole it certainly seemed to help -the marshall's at Karousel seemed to appreciate it judging by the applause on the way down , or do they do that for everybody?[:)]

sorry mel they do it for everybody
Ballast, thats nasty stuff! I have already changed my tyres to a historic road tyre rather than slicks, what more can i do.[:D]

Few pics from Combe last weekend..............

Please delete if not relevant or appropriate, but I noticed these astonishing shots of a Caterham on Shelshey Walsh hill climb yesterday and thought they may be of interest.

Driver was thankfully ok.

Makes you think doesn't it Melv!

Or at least think I am glad I'm in a caged Porsche rather than a kit car!

Pretty solid things with a cage to be fair, so long as you hit another or spin it out. Imagine one of the pilbeams or the like doing similar!

Pretty solid, but being open top, there are quite a few openings. Do you see how close it is to that pylon and I would expect debris to have more chance of entering than on a closed tin top.

A track with planned run off is one thing, but it does look a bit rural to me once you have launched the car into the wilderness for my taste!

Yes thats true, plenty of chance of something coming in the cockpit, and certainly I'm sure you are much safer in a Porsche or other tin top. I've often been suprised how well Caterhams hang together in accidents. Would never race one without a full cage though.

Usually the fact that they are probably less than 1/2 the weight of Porsche (or like) means that the energy is soon lost. It always suprises me quite how far the Porsche will travel once its left the track.

wow
Fairly sure there has only been 5 deaths in the sport of hillclimbing,4 of them in caterhams/lotus 7 etc
You missed a good day mel, fastest tin top[:)] More like a tarmac rally stage. For those of us who had done there home work,we got scuttled because they ran it the opposite way to the karts.
