Weekend trip to Bruges

Just got back from a little weekend break with Mrs Les to Bruges. What a lovely city. We got lots of good comments about the 996 from the locals and the french customs 'its beautiful' etc.
The english customs on the other hand asked me to stop and open the boot, so I clicked the bonnet release and he said "no I said the boot" so I opened up the rear. He looked confused when he looked inside and saw an engine. Surly he must be the only person on the planet who doesn't know where a 911's engine is?

Well I had a young man proudly open the boot of a Boxster (when I was looking for my Boxster) to show me the engine! He was mightily confused when it was empty, obviously not knowing the difference between the two! He was near Maidenhead and suffice to say I didn't buy from him!!!!

Please don't tell me he was looking for illegal immigrants trying to get into the UK!! By the way, did you keep a straight face?:ROFLMAO:

I took my boxster through Portsmouth on the way to Le Mans.

I was asked, very assertively, to open the boot so I smiled and asked which one? The umsmiling reply was what do you mean? I explained and demonstrated that there is a boot front and rear only to hear " where's the engine then?"

This was 2010 and given the increased and greater number of searches at security I doubt it would happen today but you never know...

He looked and said 'thats fine' and sent me on my way. I could have had all sorts in the front.

Yes it does. Last July I was asked to opent the boot, so popped the rear hatch in my Cayman. They did not ask to see in the front.
