WEEP FROM BREATHER HOSE

Hello all

Had my local garage have a look over my car as I noticed a very small weep which I posted on here before. They have said that it is a very very small amount that seems to come from the o/s breather hose. They have checked everything else and all else is fine no other leaks from anywhere else in this area and said leave it as it is as its really nothing to worry about. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so what was the verdict.

Regards Phil

Hello Kasspa

No it wasn't OPC.

My car goes to JZ Mactech, for servicing but I use a local guy who specialise in Bmw and Mercedes but also looks after many Porsches he tends to do things like the wear and tear items for me and I noticed this and decided to get them to look at it and this is what they came back with.

Not sure what it means having this weep but they said leave it be as its not a problem something that tends to happen with older engines??

Regards Phil

I assume this is the air oil separator for crankcase breathing? I believe the diaphragm in the separator can split as worst scenario and may notice problems on idle and smoke on start-up. Just a weep could be a simple connection (a photo would be good) or it needs to be removed for inspection, cleaned or replaced.

I don't have more detail than that at present but think I will get JZ to look at it when it goes in for its service in October just to find out what it really is.

Thanks Phil

I only asked as I had a similar 'advisory' once & when trying to get more detailed info it wasn't forthcoming & I was told "oh it's nothing to worry about".......
Then why bring it up in the 1st place!
I'm sure it's a ploy in the event of a trade-in to knock a few quid off.....[;)]
