Weight

Richard, Porsche technical specs list the weight of a standard car as 1270kg without options. They do come in heavier than 964 RS, Porsche list weight without extras as 1220kg on basic and 1320kg on touring versions......Obvioulsy 2.7 is even lighter!

Following the recent flurry of activity on here it is clear there are lots of different specs people are running.

Has anyone weighed their cars to get a true figure for the weight? How do they compare to a 964RS?

I think the quoted figure is 1230kg for a "std" car.

Mine has a/c and electric windows, but I now have Recaros , sportcats and mag wheels and no undertray. My feel is that the new lighter bits may balance the 2 heavy std bits!

I am sure in reality none of it matters and I know being soft I wanted a/c for practicality and elec windows to make carparks easier!

Kind regards

had mine corner weighted a while ago, 1380 with driver and 90 litres of fuel. So dry weight would be @ 1200kg things that made it heavy: large spoilers harness bar air con elec windows strut brace rear lap belts fully wrapped with clingfilm things that made it lighter: BBS wheels 100cell cat LWF no driver airbag took the spare wheel out

Actual weights of cars on the scales at Brands Hatch, all adjusted for no fuel: 993RS, BBS mag wheels, a/c, full roll cage, CS front and rear spoilers, weighed on two separate occasions, 1,290kg and 1,292kg 993RS, a/c, full roll cage, normal rear spoiler, adjusted for no fuel - 1,298kg on Speedlines, 1,290kg on BBS rims, 1,272kg on BBS rims with no spare wheel or toolkit / jack 993RS CS, a/c (v unusual for a CS), no heater, BBS rims, can't remember whether it had spare wheel - 1,220kg!

Zub, I am amazed at the CS weight...I weighed mine at Brands, also with the rare a/c (???) ;) with spare wheel, jack, tool roll, usual maps and associated junk with 1/2 a tank of fuel it came out at 1280kg on speedlines and D01J tyres. I was actually pleased with that, with standard RS coming in at 1270kg, the CS may be stripped out, but the cage must weigh 40-50kg ??? and the spoilers are larger, therefore heavier than those fitted to the regular RS. The a/c is supposed to weigh 20kg, so something else must have been done to the CS you weighed, surely?

Not my car, but I was there when it was weighed. If your car had 1/2 tank fuel, in a CS that is 90 litres x 0.5 = 45 litres, or 33kg so without fuel yours is 1247kg. This car has no heat exchangers and was on Cups which are (a bit) lighter than the Dunlops. Say that's 10kg. Also deduct (say) 10kg for the difference between Speedlines and BBS rims and your car would weigh 1,227kg. So there is only 7kg between the two - which to be honest may have been spare wheel / jack / tool roll as I can't remember whether these were in the car when it was weighed. Z

Tks for the breakdown on the weight....still pretty good when you compare to a Turbo or even C2.[:)]

The std cat is a heavy thing; certainly lightweight sportcats feel much lighter and of course slung right out at the back. I also have the option code for the non lightweight battery on mine which will add a bit. I am about to change the battery and was going to put in the smaller one. Anyone had any issues with the smaller battery?

Richard , if you have an optioned car with a/c an electric windows I wouldn't bother with the smaller battery..the extra output is needed. To be honest, the few kg that can be saved here and there are negligible, the only place you may notice is on the track where decent driver instruction will be far more beneficial return on any £ spent.

1998 model GT2, with steel doors, a/c, electric windows, just under half a tank of juice, 1320kg on fearnsports corner weight scales. Seems to sit right with the german registration documents stated weight at 1290kg.

Possibly cos u ve stopped smoking ............................can always lend u a proper pair of Alloy doors Mate !

How much does ''Bluto'' weigh Vic? (...please don't say 4 stone heavier than Popeye [&:]). No seriously...is it dramatically lighter than Graeme's Evo?
