Weird Looking Pipe

Hi

Had the wheel arch liners off to do some tidying up while the bumpers away for respray and noticed when I put them back on a small black pipe with a white plastic tube coming out of the end on the drivers side (rhd) near where the oil pipes go over the wheel arch.
It looks as if it's a drain or vent pipe but I can't see anything in the luggage compartment.
I didn't take any photo's and everythings back on now but it's got me thinking that it should be attached to something but I can't figure out what as there are no other pipes near it (apart from the oil ones)
Anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Rob

Rob,

Just a vague thought - is the hydraulic reservoir over that side on a RHD car?? Could it be an overflow??

Since mine is LHD I have no idea but I know some bits are moved and some are not.

Pardon me if it's a red herring!!!

Regards

Dave

Rob,

It's a bit confusing, but PET shows a couple of different setups on the reservior. One has an overflow tube (different part nos for LHD and RHD) and another shows it with a vented cap and a sealing cap over the vent pipe location.

Is it possible your car has had an updated vented cap fitted and the overflow pipe left to dangle?? Maybe someone cut it off where it goes through the inner wheel arch.

Just a guess I'm afraid.

Regards

Dave

If this is at the front, near the front jacking point, driver side rhd, then it is from the brake fluid reservoir overflow. I used to see some drips from there on the floor after the system had been bled and a day or so after it was done. I then had one caliper refurbished due to worn seals and it has never happened since.

Thanks Alexander

At least I know now it's not supposed to be attached at the end I can see.

Rob
