Weird residue on drivers door/drivers side roof

Hello 997 owners. After a recent drive I noticed a weird residue on the drivers side door, kind of up the B post, window, and roof. It's sticky, comes off easily and doesn't seem to have caused damage. It sort of like I drove through a sticky drink that some had thrown out of a car window in front but this is the 2nd time it's happened so I'm beginning to think it must be something leaking from the car (2012 997 GTS) - but there isn't really anything wet at the front it could be. It's not washer fluid as it's only drivers side.

What do I do?

a) Wash it off and ignore it?
b) Take it to the OPD?

Any ideas?

I suspect you've been parked out under a tree somewhere and have been coated with tree sap - very common at this time of year.

Gently wash it off with soap and water, rinse, dry and you'll be fine.

Regards,

Clive

Well, not from a tree, as it appeared after a drive and the spread pattern looks like it was spread back up the car. I'll wash it off and see if it appears again, but I've also noticed now a kind of grey residue inside the door shuts on the front of the door - again, drivers side only.

OK - then have you recently filled the washer bottle with a non-Porsche fluid? Some proprietary washer fluids are not compatible with the Porsche system.
Regards,

Clive
