Well done Paul - Tour Britannia

Hi Phil
Thanks ,it was a great event this year, around a dozen of early 911 enjoying the event, with 86 cars total with early ferrari, astons, corvettes etc
We had a few problems with the dizzy and injection pump, and finally got full power on the last day.
Even more frustrating was the first race at Brands,in the qualifying session, they had managed not to record my time or even give a grid position,so i had to start from the back, managed to get up to 9 th place in a 8 lap race.
We ended up 1 st in class 6,class 8 being the highest ,7th overall and on the index of performance1st place. And the car still in one peice!!

But it sounded a bit ropey at Ragley on the Sunday, I was stood about 10 foot away from it when Paul tried to start it up. (I've heard better sounding Ferraris!)[:)]
Ended up pushing it onto the grass. But congratulations Paul and Neil non the less.
Was it just the one piston with a problem?
Cheers

Hi fred

I have not stripped the engine yet,so not sure what it is.Part the problem was we lost both tachos during the event, and myself probably to keen to get the next car in front at oulton!!!The amazing thing was we drove the car back from shropshire at a fair rate of Knots, and it was running perfect.Next day started her,up and all was not well.

Hello Paul,
Sounds like it will be an interesting little exercise for you.
I have some anti-red-mist spray if you want it![;)]
Went around Oulton with Neil last March at the RS day, have also been around there with Mel Spear - now that Cuppie car of his is quick.

Cheers,

Fred
I have just stripped my engine down, and its all perfect.
The noise was the flywheel, which had come loose.I was going to strip the engine anyway to find out what its really built up out of.Turns out that the oil pump is a 908 high pressure type,no wonder i have been having oil pressure problems ie to much pressure etc

Paul,
Sounds like a result.
Do you use the human torque wrench when tightening bolts and nuts up? - (pull on the spanner until your arm hurts)[:D]
It is good when working on an engine etc just because you want to rather than having to fix something. I wish I could say the same for my 924S. Blew the exhaust's back box on Friday, split it down the middle leaving a three inch gap, box hit the filler / container on the gearbox and smashed it into three pieces. You can guess what I'll be doing once I get the bits. First laugh will be pushing it in the garage using a straight bar and some Yankee muscle.
Cheers,
