Well I was happy....

Hello from an RS newbie!

Some of you may well be aware from other threads that I was chasing a black 964RS that was up for sale at ninemeister for £32k.

The guy who owned it put it on ebay with a low reserve and I managed to win the car for £21,100 - no you are not reading that wrongly, £21,100!!!

Unsuprisingly he tried to back out claiming the car was sold elsewhere already and he had the right to pull out.

Unfortunately I, like many other RS enthusiasts who post on here, knew this was not true and the car was still with Colin at ninemeister at warrington.

Various emails were passed back and forth and in the end I thought 'sod it he's not getting away with it' - if any of you ever use ebay then you will know its great when dealing with genuine sellers and some of the porsche parts specialists etc who sell on there but you will also know non selling sellers are becoming more frequent and items being withdrawn with minutes to go etc etc etc can drive you mad.

Anyway, my dad is a very senior litigation lawyer dealing in contract law etc so I decided to put his services into practice! A few emails/letters/injunctions and the transfer of £21,100 means I now own J66 POR - one black 964RS!

Now I'm not overly proud I had to take this course of action but if you play the game then you have to deal with the consequences! (Don't mess with irate Geordies![:D])

Anyway those feelings pale into insignificance when I know what I now have - A CHILDHOOD DREAM FULFILLED!

A 964RS.

I pick it up from Colin on Monday and I CAN'T WAIT - I'm shaking with excitement just typing this.

Having owned various 911s from SC to 3.2 to Supersport to 993 my 911 ownership came to an end when I ended up having to sell my 993 to put in a new kitchen in the new house we have been building for the last 2 years. No porker drove me mad so I ended up buying all I could afford at the time, a 968CS, and fitted full M030 suspension, brakes etc etc. I always dreamed of getting an RS but as prices have hardened around 30k I knew it was getting further away (3 kids and a far too big house and all that). But now...I just can't believe it. So the 968CS will now be going up for sale and although its a superb car I don't care because I know what it's not!

Anyway apologies for the ramblings so early on - what I do know of the car is that it is black and that the previous owner spent a small fortune on it bringing it up to near perfect condition. Aside from the engine all the mechanical consumeables have been replaced, i.e. new clutch kit, discs, pads, caliper repaint in red, wheel refurbish (original mags), new Pirellis, full respray by Marc from Panelcraft (before Panelcraft was established), new window seals, body seals etc. Ninemeister also rechipped the engine, making around 290bhp & 285lbft. It has a half cage, full service history has just had a full service done and a hv car cover. Oh and did I mention its mine!

I'll put some photos on when I get it and am really looking forward to meeting up with many of you over coming months and throughout 2006.

I've done a couple of track days in the past but really want to get into this in a big way - it's where the car belongs and where the enthusiasts hang out! I really want to learn to drive the thing well on track so will be posting questions on where to get help, support, lessons(?) but hope that I can get many tips from you experienced 'pros' and maybe some passenger rides at various events etc

Manty thanks to those of you who helped me out with my research of the car initially - you know who you are and a very special thanks to Paul McLean who agreed not to bid on the car on ebay after I helped him out with some knowledge on other RSs - really appreciated mate.

Okay its time for a beer, I need to calm down and stop smiling so hard - my cheeks are starting to hurt[;)]
