New 981 Boxster in Raceing yellow black roof and interior
Park assist
folding mirrors
PDK & PASM
Sport Chrono package
Sport tail pipe
Seat heating
cruise control
multifunction steering wheel
auto dimming mirrors with rain sensor
Mobile phone prep (outrageous to charge £400 for what is standard on most cheaper cars)
Sat Nav and audio system - I ommitted the Bose as its a small cabin and I tend to listen to radio 4!!
Have I missed anything that you folk feel is an esential must have - there is still time?
I left off tourque vectoring as I dont like driving it in snow and ice - I will use the 4WD KIA for that and "spirited driving" gets my collar felt by plod and points which dont win prizes!

Cheers
Nick

Love the colour - Not doubt you did consider other options but the ones I would have include are:

PSE (Switchable Sports Exhaust)

Colour coded intakes

Glad to see you have the ordered heated seats, on a dry day with the hood down and sports exhaust crackling in the frosty November air what could be better than a nice warm seat![:)]

Cheers will check that option as I did drive one with that option and it was fun!

many thanks

I suggest you order the wind deflector. Its not easy to retrofit and I think when you come to sell it will be a negative if it does not have one.

I nearly went for Yellow but was not bold enough:rolleyes:

What wheels did you select?

If it's not an S I'd definitely go for the sports exhaust as you can't hear the engine very well with the roof down.

My 2.7 was one of the first (2012) - when PSE wasn't factory fitted - so I upgraded the system myself when it eventually became available as a Porsche after market option -

It makes a tremendous difference to the driving experience - you'll love it!

I've got a yellow 981. Slightly brave decision at the time but really pleased we went for it. Our car has attracted a lot of compliments, and lots of shouts of "bella machina!" when driving in Italy. It was an ex-demo and had a lot of extras but not quite the same as Nick has ordered. We like the matching yellow seat belts. Got the Bose - it really packs a punch but wouldn't class it as essential. Got the matching air intakes (yes, get those). 20 inch wheels look really nice. Sports exhaust doesn't seem to make much difference unless you are driving hard. It has phone connection and satnav which are really good. We don't have the sport chrono: not sure I'd use it - but it does look nice on the dash. Parking beepers are an essential (especially for navigating in and out of a tight garage).

All in all, Nick, go for the yellow seat belts and air intakes (if you're going yellow, go all the way!) and I'd have the 20 inch wheels - but beware: they are unforgiving if you kerb them!

Cheers Chris
added the wind deflector, mobile phone prep (which is standard on most cars these days) and the smoking package - not that I smoke! Will give the 20" rims a miss as to great a curbing risk

Nick

My Racing Yellow Cayman get more 'love the car' comments than any other Porsche I have had in 25 years!

The 20" wheels are a must - just makes the car look so purposeful.

I would leave the side intakes black as the contrast with the colour is what, IMHO, makes the car stand out!

I would consider the sportdesign steering wheel if you want to use the PDK in manual very much - the paddles are so much better (tactile and positive) than the buttons on the m/f steering wheel.

Hi

I have added yellow faced interior dials and the the sports chrono ial, I agree wither your comment regarding the side air intake and have left them black I have opted for the MF sports steeering wheel so will check as paddles would be nicer I agree.
I cant quite stretch to the 20 inch wheels - I would love them in black neither can I afford the sports exhaust - ah well such is life!

Cheers

Have stretched to 19 " Cayman rims in partial black - looks the business!
The Cayman rims look an easier clean than the 19" Boxster rims TBH

Yes the Cayman S 19" wheels are easy to keep clean, you can get a sponge or cloth inside the wheel easily.

I tried the sport steering wheel but found the paddles too close to the wheel and the backs of my fingers kept touching the paddles which I found disconcerting. I have now got used to the 'buttons' . Changing gear for me means my fingers/thumb do not even leave the wheel. Changing up I use the inside of my right thumb with just a light pressure, thumb virtually does not move.
Changing down my left index finger just touches the button on the back of the wheel. I like them now I have had a bit of practice

Thanks for that PowerMalc I did have a feel that the simple design of the Cayman 19" rim would be an easyer clean and for the shift I have gone for the buttons as I wanted the MF steering wheel. As a life long manual driver I am looking forward to the joys of PDK!

Cheers
