Hi Richard, so what will replace it? Ford Focus Estate or Panamera? [:D] Of course you can get a baby seat in a 997 Gen 2!

Car seats might fit, but not all the clobber that goes with babies - not when we'll need 2 of everything! I'm afraid I'm looking at an X5 - sorry!

Richard Congratulations - I remember the death sentence being passed on the 944 when news of the twins impending arrival was announced (we already had two kids, so no room in the back for more). The ubiquitous Mercedes estate (200T, 230T) ensued. And the Volvo (850, V70), Voyagers (x 2) and Cayennes (x 2). Mind you they're 20 now and happily have their own motors, and I managed to get back into Porsche ownership pretty quickly. So good luck, and I promise not to mention the lack of an unbroken night for the first two years...

sounds good value richard i remember the happy times well[:D] at least there is a slightly better choice now than 20yrs ago of the ubiquitous volvo estate(if you were daft enought to have 5 kids!!)[:)]

Best people carrier? The Grand Voyager - by some margin. Walk thru', individual captains chairs, seven seats ( or leave the third row behind), massive boot, sliding side door, electric everything including rear and side door closers, and about 22 cupholders! These things become important...

But have you driven one?

See above, two! About 100k miles between them. And 'driving' is not their reason for being - getting a family of 6 plus a nanny/au pair/granny/school friend with all their paraphenalia from A to B is the important bit!

Priorities Peter! [:D] Sell the family, buy a GT3. You know it makes sense.

You're no paying attention Derek! This is advice from an old hand to Richard - mine are all in their own motors these days. And my back wouldn't stand a GT3. Though if you want to make me an offer for a secondhand family, well, I could be tempted.

Offer for a secondhand family? Well, unless you have a beautiful and very wealthy 22 yr old daughter, I'll pass on that one. Anyway, my boys takes me out to dinner and buy me beer! Pity one has an Aston and the other a Lotus

you wag derek!!what would pim say.....??[:D] unfortunately the grand voyager was too late for our early kids years ,but i agree 100%with peter-when our 5 were teenagers we had a grand voyager for 5 yrs and despite drinking 14mpg on the school run was our best family vehicle-so much space between the seats meant many a skirmish didnt get too far!!! and lindas sanity was at least partially preserved[:D]
