Well the Time has come to sell...

I didn't bother putting a post in here before, but I may as well. With the daily driver throwing a paddy yet again I really do need another daily that won't test my patience (at the moment that is literally the case!). Swaps for a Family car less than 5 years old will be considered.

Make & Model : Porsche 944 S2 3.0
Year: 1989
Mileage : 136,000
Tax: September 2010
MOT: April 2011
Price: £3500
Contact : PM or 07727 147409.

I bought this car last June with a poorly engine. The No.2 Piston had previously seized in the bore, hence it made a racket as some of you may recall. I aquired another engine from a Porsche breaker with 85,000 miles on it, and sent the engine down to EMC Motorsport in Birmingham (www.emcmotorsport.com). Whilst it was there, the following was performed on it:

Cambelt, Balance belt and tensioners all renewed
Cam timing setup/dialled in
New Sachs Solid Centred Clutch Kit
Backplates/Crackle Effect cam cover transferred from the old engine with new gaskets
Cambelt tension checked after 1500 miles.

I have done around 3,000 miles in it since then and it has been a pleasure to drive the car. It pulls well, and cleanly to the redline with a kick at 4k, and generally is free of untoward noises. I have also changed the V5 details to make everything up to date.

Furthermore it's had the following done in my ownership mechanically:

New O/S Lower Arm (Hartech Replacement)
968 Lower Arm/Castor mounts
BERU Ignition leads/Cap and rotor arm
New Handbrake springs
Radiator cap
New Radiator Hoses and heater hoses
New Fanswitch
Heater Matrix (Porsch-APart)
New Radiator (ECP, but a genuine OE LRO branded rad)
2 x New tyres (front)

Previous to my ownership the owner (he did 20,000 miles in the car (7k of which were done over the last 3 years) over 10 years) he did the following:

Braided Brake lines
New Pads/Discs/Shoes all round
New Oil pressure sender (on the new engine)
New N/S Lower Arm (PorschApart)
Exchange Steering Shaft (PorscheShop)
New TREs and Track Rods (ECP)

As a result, mechanically it's very tight.

Interior wise it's all good too. It has leather seats front to back which are devoid of cracks and rips. Rest of the interior is also good. I will also throw in the Becker Mexico Pro into the sale which perfectly compliments the interior in a retro/modern kind of way, or I gave give the Pioneer tape and 6 CD Changer combination which came with the car.

Exterior wise it's got a few stonechips on the front but generally it's quite tidy and devoid of dents. It's sitting on Genuine 996 Carrera 2 Alloy wheels with 944/968 specific tyre sizes, in addition to 968 Mirrors.

That's a shame Chas - looks a nice car. Don't fancy selling the Becker separately do you?

I may indeed sell it seperately. It's the MP3 version and is the last of the Mexico Pros, hence it has the high speed Apple iPod interface built into it.

The Becker can go for £140 posted if you are still interested Dave.

Took it out for a 100 mile drive today. It was a good drive I tell you. Nevermind.

Weekend bump.

It does have a CD. It can play normal CDs including recorded CD RWs in addition to MP3s and WMAs.

You will need to buy the iPod kit to utilise the iPod functions.

The car looks really nice, does it have air con? Do you have any more pictures in daylight, of the front/stonechips? Does it start first time without having to give lots of gas etc. Do you have receipts for all the work which has been done?

Thanks

Lloyd

P.S Where are you based?

Chas,
It seems to look virtually identical to the Grand Prix - is it an older (or newer?) version?
How long have you had it and what colour is the display as they seem to come in various colours.
Sorry for all the questions!

The Grand Prx is the same unit as mine but with the addition of Bluetooth, since mine was the final revision of the Mexico Pro before it was discontinued.

I have had mine for almost 2 years and the display is green. It has small little touches including the dimmer dimming with the rheostat etc. No problems for the questions, you simply want to know what you are getting :).

Hi Lloyd,

No the car does not have AC. I will get a few pictures of it in daylight this weekend. It does have a few stonechips on the front, but no major chips etc. It does also start first time :).

I have receipts from EMC to account for the clutch change, belts change, engine swap etc. and from the previous owner and I, I have receipts to account for all of the parts replaced (receipts coming from Porscheshop, ECP, GSF, Merlin Porsche, PCT and OPCs local to me (Solihull and Sutton Colfield). The car has MOTs going back to 2001.

I am based in Warwick.

Best of luck with your sale Chas, when i saw your car it looked great, will you get another 944 at some point????

Cheers Mark. I most likely will if it does sell. There's not many cars that tick the boxes as well as the 944 yet still retain a great level of character :).

If I go for a Turbo, then I'll be letting the S2 side down, and well Oli won't be best impressed[;)].

It is indeed my current daily. But with it piling on 1000+ miles a week it's not that surprising I guess. Job changes eh?

Sorry, what I meant to say was that with my previous job (about 150 miles a week) it was my daily. My new daily is my dad's car which is covering silly miles every week.

Not that any of this matters since the car is now sold :(.
