Thursday the 18th January. What a day; what a night. Gale force winds, trees down, roads blocked, part of motorway closed, and yet "" twenty-four of us turned up at our new venue, the Bear Inn, Berkswell. On such a night, I consider that, a resounding success.
Everyone approved our new room, we had tea and coffee galore, all free as part of our agreement. Our Hosts, Ben and Laura were thoroughly pleased with the money over the bar and several of us ate first. Thus, with all round approval, on the first night, the Bear has established itself as the place to be. Dare I say "˜at last'. The Bear has a private road at the rear and our parking area is to the left of that, going in.
I cannot leave this, without acknowledging our debt of gratitude to Paul Seagrave and Rob Bird, who first advised me about this place. Paul made the initial arrangements, which I confirmed. Both are there early to greet people, as I have to travel a fair way and cannot be there until around eight o'clock.
Geoff Faulkner has kindly arranged for us to visit Curborough Sprint Track on the afternoon of Thursday the 9th of August , which I have confirmed. Thank you Geoff.
Robert Prince is marshalling a 997 gang to visit the Morgan factory, which I will arrange, so if you want to join us, speak up. (You don't have to have a 997).
On Sunday the 24th March, Paul Howells has again invited us to his Porsche emporium at Wyedean near Symonds Yat. This will include a good buffet at the Royal Hotel, Symonds Yat, where we will also gather for coffee upon first arrival in the morning. We have to book for the buffet, so I need to know as soon as possible if you wish to go. That means, do something about it now !
Dave Ryan, who owns Minsterley Ranges, in Herefordshire, is giving us another opportunity to go Clay Pigeon Shooting at a very favourable price, again with buffet. NOTE this will be on Sunday the 29th April, not as advertised recently. The date of the 3rd of June, is thus cancelled. If you have received a Programme from me, before the 30th January, please correct it accordingly.
With this and all the other things going on, we are of course indebted to Gary Willn, our Internet Moderator, who puts all down on the Forum etc. and keeps us up to date.
If you have any particular interest in any talks or events, contact me and I will do my best to oblige.. My address is "Elmwood Barn, Hadley, Droitwich, Worcs., WR9 0AX.". My telephone number is 01905 620687.
